Objectivity |
“I placed myself in an endless cycle of condoms, tissues and clocks, sleeping through the day beneath a blanket of money that kept me warm and comfortable.” – Vivi Violette
‘Objectivity’ explores the illusion of sex work through the experiences and memories of Vivi Violette. A room installation full of luxury and fantasy, yet when observed closely shouts the honest truth; that sex work isn’t all glamour and it doesn't depend on shag rugs and chandeliers, but instead on condoms, tissues and money.
For Vivi, tissues, condoms and money are objects of repetition in sex work. To her they give an accurate representation of an industry often discussed and depicted from an outsider’s point of view. Her goal is to normalise and broaden the understanding of sex work with this installation.
